More on the LCHF Diet: which would you rather eat?


First of all, CONGRATULATIONS for having chosen this path to better your health and using food as YOUR medicine. By reading this blog and keeping updated you will be better informed in order to make more educated choices about your diet and health.

As you know, there are many diets and many diet plans. My Challenges, as mentioned, follow the principles of a LCHF (Lower Carb Higher Fat) Diet. As a professional with a few years of experience, I began to go the opposite way of what was my original Base Diet: instead of a Low Fat and Wholegrain Diet, I started looking more into the benefits of an Animal and Fat-rich diet.

I have probably done thousands of individual dietary plans over the last 12 years. I have successfully helped people deal with all kinds of conditions using food alone. You name it, and someone has probably come to me with that condition. Why do I say this with such confidence? Well, as mentioned in my bio, I lived and worked in Mozambique for 9 years. As a Naturopath in Canada I would have had access to all kinds of therapies, supplements and fancy medicines. In Mozambique, I was pretty much limited to food....and so, when life gives you lemons... Thanks to that experience I learned a lot. As I was the only person in the country, at the time, doing what I did, everyone and their Mama (literally) came to see me for something. Many people reading this right now can attest to that. I have close to 10,000 email contacts and over 3 thousand people follow my page...that should give you an idea of how many people I have treated...

This actually tells me that there are lots of informed people out there. For you to come see me and ask for dietary help for a condition such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, dermatitis, asthma, acne, PCOS, breast lumps, cholesterol, hypertension, CVD, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, arthritis, gout, MS and other autoimmune conditions, hair loss, menstrual irregularities, infertility, impotence, I could go on... that means you are a pretty smart person. It means you know that food is very powerful and that diet alone can go a long way.

I digress. Back to the LCHF: What other diet allows you to eat all-natural, unprocessed foods; avoid most foods that are thought to be GMO and to trigger food intolerances; gives you a wide variety to choose from, and flavor; doesn’t make you go hungry; is rich in protein, fat and enough carbs; not have to count calories, or how many meals you have a day; not have to follow a specific time schedule? Do you know of any other? I don’t. There is only one option: the LCHF diet! This is a PRIMITIVE diet, and the only diet appropriate for our physiology, in my expert opinion (and I feel pretty ok in saying that). The proof is in how you feel a few short days after starting the plan, how it normalizes your blood pressure and blood sugar, as well as the constant reduction in localized body fat.

Again, whether or not you believe that our caveman ancestors were healthier than us, the truth is, most of the preventable illnesses that we now encounter are food-related. This is not about the Paleo diet or its theories. We, as a Planet, are very off-track when my WHOLESOME diet is "weird" and the processed, packaged foods with ingredients you can't pronounce or spell (which are not food) are considered "normal". When your kid's lunch is "bread" with "cheese" slices (all these quotes are because some or all the ingredients in these foods are either NOT food or NOT wholesome), that worries me (and upsets me a little).
